WEEKEND RETREAT: Wild at Heart, Metta Meditation
February 3 @ 6:00 pm - February 5 @ 4:00 pmFree
“Looking after oneself, one looks after others. Looking after others, one looks after oneself.”
Metta, or boundless goodwill, is a method of uprooting ill-will in our mind and is an integral part of Buddhist practice. Being able to abide with a mind of goodwill brings benefits not only to our own lives, but the world around us. Come learn the most ancient methods of metta cultivation to deepen your overall practice, as well as how to apply metta to all aspects of your daily life with Bhikkhu Jayasāra, a disciple of Bhante G from Bhavana Society.
ABOUT THE TEACHER:
Bhikkhu Jayasāra (“Bhante J”) is an American Buddhist monastic who currently resides at Bhavana Society of West Virginia. He was born in 1978 and raised Catholic. He started practicing meditation in 2005 and officially took refuge and precepts to become a practicing Buddhist lay disciple on Vesak in 2008. In 2011 he took the Eight Lifetime Precepts with Bhante Gunaratana and was given the name Jayantha. He moved to Bhavana Society in September 2014, became an Anagarika (postulant) in March 2015, became a Sāmaṇera (novice monk) in October of 2015, and a Bhikkhu (fully ordained monk) in October 2016.
